Titan Comics has teamed with Author-Artist Ugo Bienvenu for the release of the creator’s fourth graphic novel, “System Preference.” It is an ambitious undertaking for the French-born Bienvenu. He tackles what may be some of the most fundamental questions for the creative community as the world moves into and through its “AI Slop” era. Those questions begin with that of quality control.
“System Preferences” imagines a world where all content has been digitized and stored, but storage space is at a premium. Such a premium, in fact, that even contextually essential classics like “2001: A Space Odyssey” are at risk of deletion.
As we navigate the burgeoning era of AI-generated content, creators in society are furiously trying to figure out how to stand apart. In a world whose people have only so much bandwidth to take in, absorb, and retain information and entertainment, how will we decide what to keep? Who will make those decisions? By what criteria will the entire corpus of human knowledge be judged before it is designated for deletion?
Implicit within the character interactions in the story is yet another vital question: what happens to our relationships when we cease to value artistry and effort? What happens to our own sense of beauty and creativity when we outsource even the most fundamental acts of creation to synthetics?
Perhaps the book’s most important question is this: What will our children make of the world we have wrought? As the digital record becomes unreliable, what stories will we deem vital enough to preserve in it?
“System Preference” is available online and in stores on September 16, 2025.

Critically-acclaimed writer, artist and director Ugo Bienvenu presents a beautifully illustrated graphic novel which takes a dark introspection on the future of the world of social media.
Set in a bright dystopian future, fans of the sci-fi fan genre will love exploring the story of a man on the run for protecting cultural treasures in his robot surrogate.
A Black Mirror-esque future-shock satire.
In the near future, society lives in a social media metaverse where data storage is at a premium and historic works of art are simply deleted to make space for holiday photos. Appalled by this way of life, an archivist risks everything by stealing and hiding culturally important artefacts inside the robot acting as the surrogate carrier of his unborn daughter. However, he’s soon discovered, and the family are forced to go on the run, with tragic consequences.
Fans of dystopian sci-fi will love sinking their teeth into this cautionary tale.
